ACTIVE AT 60
In 2011 Collected Works set up six community reading groups at Libraries and Community Centres with the aim of getting more people to read the 2011 City Reads title: The Long Song by Andrea Levy. One of these groups, at Jubilee Library is still going strong!
READ TO RECOVERY
In 2012 we set up and ran the Read to Recovery project (see video below). These Read Aloud groups were for people experiencing mental health issues. Those groups read our 2012 book: My Policeman by Bethan Roberts.
More recently, with funding from the people’s Health Trust we ran the Street Readers project for two years, working with people who were either homeless or vulnerably housed. They read The Humans by Matt Haig (2015) and The Good Son by Paul McVeigh (2016).
We also piloted (in 2015) a shared reading group for young people (aged 12 – 16). See our Children’s Shared Reading page for more info.
