The Pebble Trust Supports Young City Reads

Collected Works CIC are very proud to announce The Pebble Trust as funders for our work with young people. The trust is a charity based in Brighton and Hove, established to provide support for local people and causes. Since 2009, the trust have made donations to local organisations which are involved in education, care, community, heritage and the arts (to name a few).

The Pebble Trust are very generously supporting Young City Reads‘ aim to reach out to new schools. Each year, many schools and young people take part in our ‘Big Read’ – where the same book is read over a ten week period, while bite sized literacy tasks and drawing activities are emailed over each Monday to tie in with the book’s themes. The project has proven to be highly successful in encouraging reluctant readers to engage in texts and creating a connection with characters and boosting creativity inside and outside of the classroom.

With this funding, Young City Reads will be able to reach out to new schools and areas in and around East Sussex to offer more pupils the take part in this free project and achieve Arts Awards in the process.

Once again, we’d like to thank The Pebble Trust and its contributions to a much loved and exciting project.
